Transparency Fuels Trust

This is an idea that I have been reflecting on for awhile. Not my idea originally...heard it in a chat with a near and dear, Jesse Hirsh. Basically, if there is little place to dissimulate in this wired environment; when people can run searches on what you have done in the past...on what people have said about you etc., the best way to build or improve your credibility is to be transparent. What you see is what you get.

The Barak Obama adminstration is trying to do this online. As soon as he became the POTUS, the White House website changed in an attempt to build transparency. Barak Obama's campaign, especially his use of online media, was based on this principle and on helping people to feel that they were working with him in a campaign to change America.

I remain very impressed with his team's use of the media and will follow how they attempt to employ transparency. Or the measure of transparency that they feel is appropriate. I will also remain skeptical about the true transparency of any government...of anyone in power.
